| Read to a Preschooler Week”
(a book on health) successful across Kansas

Many KPHA members participated in the Kansas Center for the Book
activity. Here is a picture from member, Will Evans, Cleveland Chiropractic
School in Overland Park, "members of our new Public Health
Club read Bear Feels Sick to two day care centers in the Overland
Park area. Kindercare Learning Center and at Special Beginnings,
on our campus. The picture is Cleveland student Mark Wade at the
Kindercare center. They seemed to really enjoy this—both the
kids and our students."

Instigated in 2005 Kansas Reads to Preschoolers is an ongoing Kansas
program. Public libraries, child care centers, and homes across
Kansas look forward to the week before Thanksgiving to participate
in reading events for children and families! Mayors, other government
officials, high school athletes, and families participate in programs
by reading books chosen by the State Librarian to demonstrate a
love of reading. Children’s librarians spend countless hours
designing activities for children during this special week for this
very special project. Contact your local library for more information
in your area. Plan to read to a preschooler and better yet, plan
to have your agency/organization read to several preschoolers. Be
sure to visit the official web site to learn more about this statewide
event KPHA is proud to be a sponsor. Their toolkit is shock
full of additional activities you can do! Send us photos of your
“Read to a Preschooler” events for our website and the
State Library!!
